For Coach Derek Long and the Conrad Weiser Scouts, the 2024 soccer season will be remembered as a milestone year. Not only did the team go undefeated for the first time since 1967, but Coach Long also reached a remarkable personal achievement by securing his 100th career win. This accomplishment marks a pivotal moment in Long’s career, showcasing his leadership, dedication, and the winning culture he has fostered within the Scouts soccer program. The team’s success this season is a testament to Long’s commitment and the strong foundation he has built, positioning the program for continued excellence.

From the start of the 2024 season, the Conrad Weiser Scouts, led by Coach Derek Long, demonstrated determination and purpose. Senior players Gavin Rapp and Armaan Malik were instrumental in the team’s success, contributing their leadership and experience on the field. Under Long’s guidance, the Scouts played with discipline, resilience, and a strong work ethic, steadily building a series of wins. Long’s ability to keep the team focused, even in challenging moments, was key, as the players executed his game plan with confidence and skill, driving them toward an undefeated season.

Among the victories this season, none was more meaningful than the victory over Daniel Boone that marked Derek Long’s 100th career win.

Since becoming head coach in 2014, Long has established a culture of success built on player development and teamwork. His coaching philosophy goes beyond winning games; it emphasizes personal growth and creating a positive environment for athletes. The players’ dedication to Long’s philosophy is evident in their unified and determined performances on the field.

Coach Long is quick to share credit for his 100 wins with his players, assistant coaches, and the Conrad Weiser community. His assistants, including Josh Keck, Nate Moyer, Tom Byrne, Ryan Manbeck, Jeff Kohler, and Tyler Witmer, have played crucial roles in the team’s growth.

With his 100th win and a successful season behind him, Derek Long and the Scouts now set their sights on a playoff run to become the BCIAA Boys Soccer Champions.

On Saturday, Oct 12, 2024, the Conrad Weiser Varsity Boys Soccer team won their match against Exeter Township High School by a score of 3-2.

The stage is set for the 2024 Berks County Playoffs Semi-Final game on Tuesday, Oct. 15, against Muhlenberg at Conrad Weiser.
